Our home is situated on 80 acres in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. All of our dogs are an active part of our family. They are by our sides at all times assisting us with daily chores, following us on horseback or going for a fun burn behind the side by side. At the end of the day they are in our home curled up on our feet after a long day's work protecting our home and property.
Being a dog lover my entire life, I discovered the breed in 2010. After doing some research I decided the Cane Corso was a great fit for our family and would compliment our active outdoor lifestyle. We quickly fell in love with their natural instinctive protection, their devotion, intensity, affection and loyalty.
In 2015, we, decided we were ready to bring our first Corso into our home. All I have to say is there is not enough research in the world that can prepare you for bringing a Corso into your life. Yes, I considered myself one of those alpha dog owners who thought I was experienced in owning any large breed dog. How could this experience be any different, right?! Our first Corso, Jorja, barged into our home with her chest held high and had this sort of entitlement and confidence about her that I had never experienced before. I was certainly not prepared for the amount of commitment I would have to give her. With time, I began to thrive from her willingness to work for me. This breed exceeded my expectations and continues to challenge me to be a better owner every day.
With the encouragement of my husband and 2 children, we decided to take the next step in starting a small Canadian breeding program with a personal goal of breed preservation. We strive to produce quality, stable dogs according to the breed standard. A lot of detail goes into researching and learning pedigrees before considering our pairings. Our dogs are registered and health tested using OFA/Pennhip before being bred. We are active with our dogs performing in events such as obedience, conformation, canine good neighbor and continue to participate in earning titles. We offer a 26 month health guarantee as well as lifetime breeder support.
At Prairie Creek Cane Corso, our litters are carefully planned and our applicants are thoroughly screened in order to match our pups with responsible owners. We raise our pups with the Puppy Culture program because we believe it gives our pups the head start they need before being placed in their new homes. This program introduces pups to basic manners and gives them great problem solving skills which eases their transitions, making it easier for new owners to focus on bonding. Our pups are temperament tested by an experienced multi-certified trainer in order to help us make our placement decisions. We offer ear cropping and aftercare for our owners and travel to the U.S. for this procedure to be done under proper skilled veterinarians. Breed preservation is important to us and we believe this is an important service.
Our goal as a responsible breeder is to create healthy, versatile, well- tempered dogs that are carefully matched to their new families and environments. As a new breeder, I am the first to admit that I still have a lot to learn and it has taken a village to get me where I am. I am so grateful to have many experienced mentors to turn to when I have questions or need advice on various topics such as pedigrees, genetics, nutrition, conformation, training, whelping, temperament, and health.
